Morning

Project: Nature, Food and Culture
Community: Favela Vale Encantado – Tijuca’s Forest – Rio de Janeiro
The aim of this project is to build an organic garden within the Vale Encantado community, preserving local nature, integrating residents with environment, producing food for domestic consumption and creating a production of typical food to the foreign market.

A unique program that enables the visitor to a singular view on Rio’s slums. Visitors can experience life in community and helps improve the quality of life of local people, generating market conditions to develop sustainably. In addition, of course, join a pleasant walk in Floresta da Tijuca, one of the last preserved areas of the Atlantic Forest in the world.

Afternoon (Sugar Loaf Trekking)

Praia Vermelha, south area of Rio de Janeiro.
Our trail starts at base of the Sugar Loaf, at the beach of Praia Vermelha. The path circles the mountain through the astonishing green forest. In this walk we will have spectacular views of the sea and mountains and, with a little luck, it is possible to observe some monkeys and birds of the Atlantic Forest. After our walk, we will continue until Urca’s hill, the station half way from Sugar Loaf Mountain and 220 meters above the sea. From there, the cable car will take us to the Sugar Loaf peak to enjoy the wonderful view of Rio de Janeiro.
