Sustainable Brands is the largest international community of learning, focused on understanding and leveraging the role of the brand in building a prosperous future. It is based on the belief that, encouraging the best of ingenuity and innovation, we can change the way that business is done and, therefore, the world. Held for the second year in Rio de Janeiro, SB Rio 14 makes up a global network of Sustainable Brands conferences, which includes San Diego, London and Istanbul. The Brazilian edition is organized by Report Sustentabilidade, in partnership with Sustainable Life Media and a wide network of supporters and sponsors in Brazil and abroad.
The agenda will gather lectures from business leaders and entrepreneurs of Brazil and abroad, which will form a rich panel on how companies are building in practice initiatives that will support the brands of the future.

SB Rio 14 will be held on April 24th and 25th, with post-event activities on the 26th, at the SulAmerica Convention Center (CCSA). The event will be organized in plenary sessions, with business leaders and experts presentations; Expo that highlights 16 specific initiatives of national and international companies to transform the business environment; Thematic sessions, with deeper conversations about the central issues of the New Economy; and also the SB Innovation Open, competition among start-ups that born with innovative solutions for technologies and business arrangements.

Community: Favela Vale Encantado – Tijuca’s Forest – Rio de Janeiro
The aim of this project is to build an organic garden within the Vale Encantado community, preserving local nature, integrating residents with environment, producing food for domestic consumption and creating a production of typical food to the foreign market.
A unique program that enables the visitor to a singular view on Rio’s slums. Visitors can experience life in community and helps improve the quality of life of local people, generating market conditions to develop sustainably. In addition, of course, join a pleasant walk in Floresta da Tijuca, one of the last preserved areas of the Atlantic Forest in the world.
Afternoon (Sugar Loaf Trekking)
Ecologic Trekking – Sugar Loaf
Praia Vermelha, south area of Rio de Janeiro.
Our trail starts at base of the Sugar Loaf, at the beach of Praia Vermelha. The path circles the mountain through the astonishing green forest. In this walk we will have spectacular views of the sea and mountains and, with a little luck, it is possible to observe some monkeys and birds of the Atlantic Forest. After our walk, we will continue until Urca’s hill, the station half way from Sugar Loaf Mountain and 220 meters above the sea. From there, the cable car will take us to the Sugar Loaf peak to enjoy the wonderful view of Rio de Janeiro.

Founder of Guayaki and rarely found without a gourd of mate tea in his hand, Alex is an ambassador for this drink from his native Argentina, promoting initiatives around business, the environment and local communities. His start up, born out of a project he began at the University of California, now has operations in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, and aims to create more than one thousand jobs by 2020.
Christopher Lukezic joined Airbnb as an early employee in 2009 and now acts as the Director of International Communications for Airbnb where he oversees brand marketing, media relations, and partnerships in Airbnb’s international markets. Prior to joining Airbnb Christopher spent 5 years as a professional runner and spokesperson for Reebok and Nissan.
A passionate about Rio and social business Uruguayan, natural strategist, with an MBA in Berkeley and over 8 years of experience in large companies, having worked on projects at the bottom of the pyramid in Mexico, Bangladesh, India and Latin America with the McKinsey Social Sector.
Raphael is a passionate champion for a new approach to brand innovation that uses sustainability to create shared value. “Our philosophy is simple: innovative brands are sustainable brands, and they will lead the way from a ‘what’ marketplace based on commodities to a ‘how’ paradigm based on shared values and relationships”. An expert in brand strategy, innovation strategy, CSR/cause marketing and public affairs, Raphael has created national campaigns, drafted public policy, designed consumer and nonprofit brands, and managed communications for local, state and federal elected officials.
Richard Barrett (FRSA) is an author, speaker, professor and social commentator on the evolution of human values in business and society. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Barrett Values Centre and an internationally recognized thought leader on values, culture, leadership and consciousness. Barrett is the creator of the internationally recognized Cultural Transformation Tools (CTT) currently being used in 60 countries to support more than 3,000 organizations and leaders in their transformational journeys. He is a Fellow of the RSA, Fellow of the World Business Academy, and Former Values Coordinator at the World Bank.
Professional with solid financial and processes background with risk and project management expertise. Experienced in consultancy services performed in the field as consultant and project manager in major assignments. In DNV GL since 2002 has being working in controllership and finance, being Regional Controller for South America (business partner approach) with an assignment as a corporate controller in the headquarter in 2010. Since 2012 has a position of Director of Sustainability Services having a role in the operations and new business developments. With bachelor's degree on Management, Bazin has MBA at Ibmec and specialization courses at Coppe and San Diego College.
Tom Szaky is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of TerraCycle, Inc., producer of the world’s first product made from and packaged in waste. TerraCycle received a number of awards for business model and environmental stewardship. Mr. Szaky started his first business with 14 years old and has engaged in the start-up of three small 'dot.com' companies. He went to the United States in 2001 when he matriculated as a freshman at Princeton University. In 2002, Mr. Szaky took a leave of absence to dedicate himself full-time to starting TerraCycle, Inc., beginning as a 2 man outfit in the crowded basement of an old office building in Princeton.
Presented by Apex-Brazil, the Sustainable Brands Innovation Open winner was the start-up Treebos, while Dentistas na Favela received the audiance prize.

Judges will review each submission, and select semi-finalists based on the following criteria:
SulAmerica Convention Center (CCSA) has a privileged location in the downtown area, adjacent to the City Hall of Rio, with ample access to public transportation, hotels and the city's business center.
CCSA is 15 minutes away from Santos Dumont Airport, 20 minutes from Tom Jobim Airport and less than 10 minutes from New River Road and the railway station Central do Brasil.
Close to the Convention Center, there are subway stations such as Estacio (line 1) and Cidade Nova (line 2), with access to districts in the south and north part of the city and the possibility of integration with bus lines to other regions of Rio.
The streets surrounding the Convention Center receive lines from almost all districts of Rio de Janeiro, with the possibility of integration with trains and boats to reach other cities in the metropolitan region.
The CCSA has its own parking lot, sheltered, with 1,300 parking spaces, ensuring comfort and safety for those who choose to travel by car.
